In India, flowers are deeply woven into everyday life - offered in prayer, gifted in love, used in celebration, and brought into homes with meaning.
But their life is often short.
Neerja was born from wanting to make a change.
Growing up around a family flower business, I saw this waste closely. Flowers that weren’t sold within a few days were simply thrown away. What was considered inventory loss in business felt like a real gap to me.
Every day, large volumes of flowers are discarded after weddings, temple offerings, and celebrations. What once held beauty, and intention quickly becomes waste - a problem so common that it has almost become invisible.
So we decided to make a change.
Our way of giving wasted flowers a second life and a new meaning.
Our work is rooted in a simple belief:
waste can be reimagined beautifully.
We hope to offer a more thoughtful way of looking at consumption, memory, and beauty by turning discarded flowers into pieces meant to be worn, lit, displayed, and kept.
At Neerja, we work with used flowers and upcycle them into lifestyle products designed for everyday homes - jewellery, candles, and decor that allow flowers to live beyond their first purpose.
Neerja, another name for the lotus, holds a meaning close to my heart.
A lotus grows in mud, yet blooms into something beautiful, symbolising that beauty can emerge from the most unexpected places. This idea is at the core of what we do.
We take what is often seen as waste and transform it into something meaningful and beautiful. Neerja is my way of reimagining how we perceive beauty - finding value, purpose, and grace in what others might overlook.
